House is in Contract!

The house is officially in contract with a close of escrow next Wednesday. We have to be moved out by next Sunday. We can't believe how fast everything is happening. But today our buyer had their own inspections done at our house and they found some things that our inspector hadn't found. We are expecting to receive a list of repairs from our buyer tomorrow that we weren't anticipating. I knew this whole thing was just going way too well...

So, Andrew and I are a little discouraged, but we still think this deal is going to go through. It is a good deal for us.

We had an event at Matthew's school tonight and many neighbors were coming up to us telling us they would miss us. We have some great neighbors who all seem to be fairly good friends. I think in time we would also be good friends with them, but we're about ten years behind them in life. We (or I) often wonder if we are doing the right thing. I mean, we have a great neighborhood with a good school. So what's the problem?

I guess we just feel that we can do better for our kids, and when I look at them I feel like I owe that to them. It's just money, after all. A lot more money each month that we'll have to shell out. But, you live once. You can't waste time thinking life could be a little better if we just lived somewhere else. At some point you just have to make it happen, right? I've always been one to take whatever control I have over my life and go with it. If something doesn't feel right, you better believe that I'm gonna do what I can to fix it. I don't want to waste time being unhappy, because you just don't know how much time you have left on any given day. I say better to live life with no regrets than to wonder 'what if'?

Thankfully I have a wonderful husband, who is right there with me through this. I don't know what I'd do without him.

House is officially on the market!

Held our first open house this weekend. We had 89 groups come through on Saturday in 3 hours. Our agent says that is almost record breaking. People are starting to open up their checkbooks and are ready to make offers, so we moved our offer date up to this Thursday. We have a buyer that wants to pay all cash with a 7 day close, and we're going to look at that offer early next week. Who has $900k cash lying around?!?!? Thankfully someone that loves our house does.

So, things are happening really quickly. We should be under contract by the end of next week. Wow!

Now, if we could just find something to buy...

So, we're moved out of our house temporarily. I couldn't imagine trying to maintain the necessary cleanliness level required to sell a house with two kids and a dog. My parents were kind enough to open their door to us. We'll be living with them until the house sells and then we'll move back into our house to pack up and move out. Then, we'll move back in with the 'rents until we find a new house. It's really getting scary now knowing that we'll soon be without a house. I just hope we can find something we like before school starts up, and that we don't have to end up "settling" for something because we run out of time.

The house has now been on the market for one full day, and there has been a ton of interest. I accidentally walked in on an agent and buyer this afternoon - oops. They asked me a few questions, and I quickly departed. We're expecting to get multiple offers, so that feels pretty good. We can use all the money we can get for the new house purchase.

Living with the folks is going just fine. Some people cringe when I tell them we're living with my parents, but they just don't understand how fantastic mine are, and how great it is to be with them. I just hope they can put up with us for this extended stay.

One funny thing that happened yesterday...I got up early and was trying to close the door to the kids room, which is right next to ours. There was a fan on in the house and the door just wouldn't close after several failed attempts (windtunnel effect). While I'm trying to close the door one final time I hear Matthew call out, "Come in here and show yourself!" in a very authoritative manner. He cracks me up!

House Is Ready to Sell!

Goes on the market this afternoon, or tomorrow morning. We have an open house this Saturday and Sunday. Here is a link to the virtual tour. It isn't finished yet, but you can see how great the house looks! I'd buy it.

As if we didn't already have enough going on in our lives?!?!?

So, you may recall that our dog Apollo had surgery in September because he tore his ACL. We went in to the vet last week for a follow-up and were pleased to hear that Apollo is 100% healed, and no longer had any exercise restrictions. On Sunday we took him to the neighborhood school with us and threw the ball for him a few times. Wouldn't you know it...he came up lame on the other leg. A visit to the vet the next day confirmed he tore his ACL in the other leg, requiring yet another TPLO surgery. Surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday.
